Silver City Teen CenterThe Silver City Teen Center is a program under the blanket of Southeastern Massachusetts Voices Against Violence (SEMA-VAV) all volunteer, grassroots coalition founded in 2003.
SEMA-VAV collaborated & partnered with the Mayor’s Office and the Taunton School Committee to bring the teen center to life in October 2008 as a National Make a Difference Day project. In April 2009, the Silver City Teen Center was one of ten projects throughout the United States to receive recognition as winners of the USA Weekend News, Newman’s Own, National Make a Difference Day Foundation award. In addition to direct donations, the Silver City Ten Center has been funded by grants from the Department of Public Health for Youth at Risk, the United Way of Greater Attleboro/Taunton. the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation, the Taunton Elks Lodge #150 and donations from volunteers and the community as a whole. The Silver City Teen Center members and volunteers collaborate and partner with the SEMA-VAV Violence Prevention Task Force, the Taunton Suicide Prevention Task Force and the MDPH Bristol County Regional Coalition for Suicide Prevention. |
Who We Are |
In 2014, SEMA-VAV and the Greater Taunton Community Services, Inc. 501c3 non-profit established a collaborative partnership to better serve those in need not just in the Greater Taunton Area, but throughout Bristol County.
